Chromium, Nickel and Zinc Induced Histopathological Alterations in the Liver of Indian Common Carp Labeo rohita
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Degenerative histopathalogical alterations were seen in liver due to chronic exposure of the fish, Labeo rohita to chlorides of chromium, nickel and zinc for 30 days. However, more severe degenerative changes were observed in case of zinc chloride exposed fish than nickel chloride and chromium chloride treated fishes, indicating more toxic nature of zinc chloride. There were enlarged nuclei, condensation of cytoplasm and disarray of hepatic cords blood congestion in sinusoids, vacuolation of hepatocytes and necrosis. Heavy metal salts get entered in the cells by readily crossing the cell membranes where interfere with the enzyme systems in the cells resulting into morphological damage and / or their vital functions could be in jeopardy. @JASEM

Effect of Arsenic and Chromium on the Serum Amino-Transferases Activity in Indian Major Carp, Labeo rohita
Arsenic and hexavalent chromium toxicity results from their ability to interact with sulfahydryl groups of proteins and enzymes, and to substitute phosphorus in a variety of biochemical reactions. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT; E.C: 2.6.1.2) and Aspartate amino transferase (AST; EC 2.6.1.1) play a crucial role in transamination reactions and can be used as potential biomarkers to indicate hepat...

DAS, B. K., S. C. MUKHERJEE: A histopathological study of carp (Labeo rohita) exposed to hexachlorocyclohexane. Vet. arhiv 70, 169-180, 2000. ABSTRACT Indian major carp (Labeo rohita) were exposed to 1/10 and 1/5 sub-lethal doses of hexachlorocyclohexane during a 45-day trial period. Fish were sacrificed at the end of the trial period to study light microscopic changes associated with toxicity....
متن کاملBioaccumulation of Some Heavy Metals: Analysis and Comparison of Cyprinus carpio and Labeo rohita from Sardaryab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
We examined and compared heavy metals bioaccumulation in Cyprinus carpio and Labeo rohita netted from Sardaryab, a tributary of River Kabul. By using atomic absorption spectrometry we assessed different organs including livers, gills, and muscles. Metals studied were chromium, iron, zinc, lead, and copper. Livers of both species showed higher concentrations of metals while muscles showed the le...
متن کاملAcute effects of hexavalent chromium on survival, oxygen consumption, hematological parameters and some biochemical profiles of the Indian major carp, Labeo rohita.
An attempt has been made in the present investigation to determine the acute toxicity of hexavalent chromium and its toxicological effects on survival, physiological, hematological and biochemical parameters of the widely consumed Indian major carp, Labeo rohita. Short-term acute toxicity tests were performed adopting renewal bioassay technique (USEPA, 1975) over a period of 96 h, using differe...
متن کاملA Study on the Toxicity of Chromium on the Histology of Gill and Liver of Freshwater Fish Labeo Rohita
The toxic effect of chromium on the histology of gill and liver of Labeo rohita fingerlings was studied. The fingerlings were exposed for 10, 20 and 30 days in 10% sublethal concentration of 96 h LC50 of chromium (3.5 ppm). The gills exposed to sublethal concentration of chromium showed mild histological alterations during 10 days of exposure. However after 30 days, fusion of gill lamellae, hyp...
